Condolences flock to Chris Kelly

Written By Unknown on Thursday 2 May 2013 | 05:10

Fans of 1990s rap duo Kris Kross were mourning the loss of Chris Kelly, who died Wednesday night of an apparent drug overdose at his home in Georgia. No official cause of death was determined. He was 34 years old.
Kelly - also known as the "Mac Daddy" - and his compatriot Kris Kross member Chris Smith - known as "Daddy Mac" - made a name for themselves with their song Jump in 1992, which became a number one hit in the United States and around the world, and one of the most popular of the year. The album of the same year, Totally Krossed Out, went multi-platinum.

Kris Kross at its peak was also famous for his sartorial eccentricity, with Kelly Smith and often wearing their clothes back and extra, extra large.

So So Def label boss Jermaine Dupri has issued the following statement on the website of the record:

Letter to fans

For the world was chris MacDaddy but for me it was a son, I've never had as much as you may think I taught him, he taught me, God has blessed me to be in the presence of as people naturally talented and chris was. understanding of what we decided to do on the first day was still on this point. his passion for music, his love for shows, his desire to better than everyone else, has always been Turnt up. when I think about it, I spent more time with Chris that damn near a person in my life, so you can imagine how much it hurts.
I will always love you chris, and I will never let the world forget you, God bless your soul

Donna Kelly Pratte, the mother of Kelly and So So Def issued a joint statement Wednesday night, seen by The Hollywood Reporter:
